What is Restylane Lyft?
Restylane Lyft (formerly known as Perlane) is hyaluronic acid, which is a complex sugar that is identical to the hyaluronic acid your body makes. Restylane Lyft is synthetically made and it is not derived from humans or animals. Because the Restylane Lyft is identical to the hyaluronic acid in your own body, it breaks down naturally.

How does Restylane Lyft work?
Restylane Lyft is used to correct deep, embedded wrinkles and to replace the volume lost in the face or hands due to the aging process. Restylane Lyft is injected below the skin to lift the wrinkle or hollow so that it smoothly transitions into the surrounding areas. Restylane Lyft with lidocaine helps to reduce any discomfort during treatment.
Where is Restylane Lyft used?
Restylane Lyft for the Face
Restylane Lyft is predominantly used for the nasolabial folds (smile lines), marionette lines, to hide the jowls, and return the cheeks to the gentle convexity they had in youth. Hyaluronic acid fillers can treat both sever facial wrinkles and restore volume as a cheek filler treatment.
Restylane Lyft for the Hands
Restylane Lyft stands out from other dermal fillers because it is the first and only FDA-approved filler for the backs of the hands. Volume loss can occur in the hands just like the face. Restylane Lyft can be placed below the skin to smooth the hands and restore volume loss, creating a youthful appearance. The results of Restylane Lyft for the hands are instant and can last for many months before a touch-up is needed.
Are there different types of hyaluronic acid?
There are two different versions of hyaluronic acid. There are hyaluronic acids that are thin, like Restylane and Juvéderm Ultra. There are also hyaluronic acids that are thick, like Restylane Lyft and Juvéderm Ultra Plus. Thinner products like Restylane and Juvéderm Ultra Plus are good for superficial wrinkles and areas of thin skin. The thicker products like Restylane Lyft and Juvéderm Ultra Plus are good for lifting deep wrinkles or deep facial hollows.
Does Restylane Lyft work instantly?
Following a Restylane Lyft injection, you will see an immediate improvement in the deep wrinkles and depressions that are caused by the aging process.
How long does Restylane Lyft last?
Restylane Lyft tends to last longer than the thinner hyaluronic acids. There are three general rules when it comes to the duration of injectable fillers:
- The closer you inject to the mouth, the faster the Restylane Lyft goes away.
- The more superficial the injection, the longer the Restylane lasts.
- There are no guarantees when it comes to the duration of Restylane Lyft. Restylane Lyft typically lasts longer when placed in the face than in the hands. During the consultation, Dr. Stanislaw will give you a range of the duration for a specific area treated with Restylane Lyft.
How many visits are there for a Restylane Lyft injection?
If it is your first time getting a Restylane Lyft injection, it is recommended that you start with a consultation, so Dr. Stanislaw can examine your areas of concern and discuss optimal treatment options. The initial treatment can last anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour. Most Restylane Lyft treatments include a follow-up visit usually within 2 weeks of the injection.
Some patients experience mild redness and swelling after the injection, but this usually disappears within twenty-four hours.
Will I have a bruise after a Restylane Lyft injection?
The incidence of bruising depends on the patient and the location being injected. Some areas have a greater risk of bruising than others. For instance, the incidence of bruising from injections around the eyes is much greater than the incidence of injections in the forehead. Whenever you have an injection, no matter how delicate or meticulous Dr. Stanislaw is, there is always the chance of a bruise. If bruising is a concern, you should schedule your injection appointment for a time when a bruise will not affect your social or work schedule.
How much discomfort is associated with a Restylane Lyft injection?
Restylane Lyft injections cause very little discomfort. Since Restylane Lyft has a numbing medication mixed in with the filler, most people don’t require a topical numbing agent. Some patients may have a mild ache at the site of the injection that lasts for a day or two, but this can be treated with an over-the-counter pain reliever such as Tylenol or Motrin.
What are my restrictions after a Restylane Lyft injection?
After receiving a Restylane Lyft injection, it is advised that you apply cold packs to the injected area for the first 24 hours to prevent swelling. You should not press on or massage the site of the injection for one week. Facials and microdermabrasion should be postponed for one week after the injection.
Procedures/Treatments often performed in conjunction with a Restylane Lyft injection
You can combine a Restylane Lyft injection with treatments that include topical Retin-A, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, microdermabrasions, and facial peels.
