Ask the Skincare Expert: How Can I Get Rid of Brown Spots on My Hands?

in Avon, Connecticut

Over time, our skin is exposed to the elements, particularly the sun. Excessive sun exposure can cause sun spots or brown marks on our skin (hyperpigmentation).   Particularly the areas that are exposed most often include the face, neck, chest, and hands.  If you feel that your hands give away your age or make you look older than you feel, you may be able to benefit from a variety of cosmetic treatments. Read on to learn more about these treatments and what they can do for you.

Hand Rejuvenation Treatments

At our office here in Avon CT, we offer a selection of hand treatments to help reduce hyperpigmentation, as well as help rejuvenate collagen production.

The Anti-Aging Hand Treatment includes a microdermabrasion, which is a mechanical exfoliation of the skin cells that rejuvenates collagen, skin thickness and reduces hyperpigmentation.  This treatment also includes cleansing, a hydrating healing mask, moisturizer and sunscreen.  While these treatments can treat brown spots, they cannot prevent future brown spots from forming.  Patients should take preventative measure by protecting their hands from the sun by using sunscreen.

The Rejuvenating Hand Treatment includes an exfoliating scrub mixed with essential oils that removes rough, dry skin.  Enjoy a hydrating hand massage and a healing botanical paraffin mask.   This treatment also helps to rejuvenate the skin on the hands.

There are also specific products to additionally help, and as always remember to apply sunscreen daily.
