What to Expect After Microdermabrasion or Peel Treatments

Microdermabrasion and chemical peels are forms of exfoliating the skin. The microdermabrasion is a mechanical form of exfoliation and peels are a chemical form of exfoliation. The purpose of these treatments is to have your skin be at its optimal health.  By exfoliating the skin at this level of skincare service you are strengthening the skin.

The skin may or may not “peel” with these services.  It is not to say if you do not “peel” visually that you are not benefiting from these treatments, quite the opposite. The skin that is well taken care of or “prepped” for these services usually doesn’t peel. You do however stimulate the production of collagen and the rejuvenation of cells.

The treatments can also leave the skin red and typically lasts for an hour but can actually stay for a couple of days.

For those patients looking for greater results, a stronger retinol peel can be used on patients who have properly prepped their skin. Patients electing for the retinol peel can expect visual peeling for 5-10 days. The patient is given a post peel care kit to be used during the 5-10 days of peeling.
