Morning Skincare Routine
1. Cleanser
- Wash your face with a gentle cleanser.
- Ensure your face is completely dry before moving to the next step.
2. Topical Vitamin C & E
- With a clean, dry finger, apply a small amount of vitamins C & E to your entire face (see exceptions below).
- Touch your finger to the end of the tube and swipe, then rub in this small amount to cover as much skin as possible. Repeat until all areas of the face are treated. More is not better- there should not be a film of product left; it should absorb completely.
- Areas not to apply: Do not apply within 2 inches above the eyebrows, on the upper eyelids, outside corners of the nose, or the corners of the mouth.
- Make sure that your face is completely dry before proceeding.
3. Moisturizer
- Apply moisturizer if necessary.
- Make sure your face is completely dry before the next step.
4. Zinc-Based Sunblock (9% or Greater)
- Apply sunblock to your entire face, ears, neck, and upper chest. Do not rely on SPF alone or SPF-infused skincare/makeup.
- Ensure your face is completely dry before proceeding.
5. Makeup
- If applying makeup, do so now.
Evening Skincare Routine
1. Cleanser
- Wash your face with a gentle cleanser.
- Ensure your face is completely dry before the next step.
2. Retinol/Tretinoin Cream
- Retinol and tretinoin can cause redness, dryness, and irritation. Start slowly and gradually increase the product’s concentration and frequency of use.
- Begin by applying once a week for 6–8 weeks, then twice a week for 6–8 weeks, then three times a week, and so on until you reach nightly use (if tolerated).
- If your skin becomes red, dry, flaky, or irritated, return to your previous schedule for another 2 months before trying to advance again.
- Everyone’s skin is different- listen to your skin. Irritation may appear 2–3 days after application.
- With a clean, dry finger, apply a small amount to your entire face (see exceptions below). Touch your finger to the end of the tube, swipe, and rub in, covering as much skin as possible. Repeat until all areas are treated. More is not better- there should not be a film of product left on your face.
- Areas not to apply: Do not apply within ½ inch above the eyebrows, on the upper eyelids, outside corners of the nose, or outside corners of the mouth.
