Are you getting the most out of your Botox or Dysport?

in Avon, Connecticut

According to the ASPS (American Society of Plastic Surgeons), 6.5 Million people were injected with Botox and Dysport in 2015. Wow, those are impressive numbers! These neuromodulators are great, minimally-invasive treatments used to ward off signs of aging. To put it simply, these injections inhibit the surrounding muscles from contracting. Every time you smile or frown, you cause muscles to contract. These contractions eventually cause wrinkles to develop after much repetition.

Your injectable treatment plan

Dr. Stanislaw recommends starting injections conservatively and only targeting muscles that are actually being affected. By specifically targeting the offending muscles, you are less likely to waste the treatment on areas that don’t really need it.  You will also avoid getting that “frozen look” that many of us dread.

Dysport & Botox injections typically last 3-4 months, although some people may get more time out of them— most patients will need a repeat injection at around 3-months.  It’s important to remember to maintain a consistent schedule to minimize the opportunity for wrinkles to develop.

Getting the best out of your results

There are other very easy steps you can take in between injections to help prevent wrinkles; sunblock and sunglasses are simple and very effective. PCA recently came out with Exlinea, a topical take-home product that works synergistically to combat wrinkles like crow’s feet. This product is flying off the shelves! Our patients highly recommend Exlinea as a “must have” in between their Botox & Dysport injections.
